Turner’s Syndrome Long Term Care Clinic

This clinic has been established to provide long term follow-up of women with Turner’s syndrome   with the aim to reduce morbidity and improve life expectancy. This multidisciplinary clinic is staffed by adult endocrinologists, gynaecologists, psychologists and clinical nurse with specialist liaison with audiologists, cardiologists and ENT surgeons where appropriate.

Patients would be referred by:

 1. Paediatric endocrinologists to provide continuing care for patients they have been caring for since childhood,  
 2. Obstetrician and gynaecologists who are currently involved in the care of these women and who require adjunct multi-disciplinary specialist input,  
 3. GPs who have been the primary care provider who require adjunct multi-disciplinary specialist input,  
 4. Specialists, including gynaecologists and endocrinologists, who having suspected/ confirmed the diagnosis refer the women for continued follow-up,  
 5. Self-referral from women with Turner’s syndrome  who require long term follow-up and who may not have had specialist review for a long time previously (a referral letter from a doctor is required to attend the clinic).  

The protocol described herein outlines the rationale and clinical practice undertaken in the clinic.
